Factory has been one of the most popular nightclubs in Manchester since it opened in 2010, hosting both DJs and live bands. However, the nightclub was forced to shut after bouncers attacked 18-year-old Joe Sharratt on 3rd December. The assault was recorded and went viral on twitter gaining almost 40,000 views. The video shows the teenager being assaulted by multiple bouncers and then being held on the ground and punched repeatedly The next day Factory posted this to Twitter: “We have launched a full investigation into this distressing incident and will be working with the police, local authorities and out third party security provider to ensure the matter is dealt with swiftly and appropriately.” “Having viewed both the CCTV footage and the video circulating on social media, we can only say that we are shocked by what we have seen. Any security personnel found to be involved will be terminated with immediate effect, regardless of the outcome of the police investigation.” Factory have since had their licence revoked until the 18th of January. This has meant that the club has had to cancel their New Year’s Eve event. A Factory frequenter, Erin, told us: “I was shocked when I saw the video trending on twitter. I’d feel uncomfortable going back there. That club had a reputation for bad bouncers.” A post shared by Kane Daly (@kane.dalynews) on Jan 6, 2019 at 4:48pm PST Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Like Loading...
