Reflection Seven

For assessment 1, I wrote about women and Leeds Festival. I enjoyed writing this piece because music festivals and equal representation are two things I care about. The main problems I faced when writing this piece were that 1) the festival wouldn’t reply to my messages for a statement, and 2) avoiding cliché since there are already lots of news articles about women’s representation and women’s safety at festivals. To combat this I used interviews to let the women themselves say that they thought.

Assessment 2 was the easiest to write since most people stranded in Heathrow due to the shutdown had nothing better to do than to complain on twitter, making my work easier in finding an interview. Most of my information came directly from Heathrow’s twitter since it was the most direct source.

I really enjoyed assessment 3 because I enjoy figuring out how to use Photoshop and the story was about a club that I used to enjoy and played a gig at once. The difficulty with this assignment was presenting a concise story that could fit into 10 slides. I initially wanted to use a video editing software to present some footage but iMovie proved annoying to use and wouldn’t accept a 1:1 aspect ratio. I think I enjoyed this task most because I enjoy trying to make an elegant format and right now I think I want to start making more news stories for social media.
