I think that curation is one of the most valuable new forms of journalism that has risen in the digital age. Curation works to archive primary source material to hold individuals accountable to what they’ve posted to the internet and also to reflect how people are reacting to different situations on the internet. For instance, when Donald Trump creates angsty semi-literate tweets, curations journalist can immortalise that and analyse it, then they can include reactionary tweets to display the feeling of the public. These are the sorts or articles which will be referenced in the future as of-the-times analysis of current affairs and the state of the early 21st century, giving a more three-dimensional perspective to our era than any before by providing so many thoughts in one curation.
The main issue I’m having with researching for my first assignment piece is that I’m constantly changing what I want the piece to be about and swapping the ideas between the three assignment formats. I think over the next couple of weeks I’ll have to research my ideas further and just go with one idea. At this moment in time I’m thinking of writing my first assignment piece on the Manchester bombing inquiry or the Leeds Festival announcements.
