The third news day went surprisingly well considering Ben and I had struggled to find a strong story to write about up until the morning of the news day. Luckily for us (less so for Virgin Trains) there was a small train crash in the early hours of the morning resulting in major delays to trains that day.
The only problem we faced that day was that, by the time we got to the train station, most of the trains were no longer delayed, the only major delays being the LNER trains to King’s Cross. This made it difficult to find angry people to interview as most people were rather happy with their service. We also had the issue of people not wanting their interviews to be filmed, which did not help us when we were producing a video that day.
The video itself worked rather well as we remembered to get videos of the trains to overlay the quotes over as well as tweets from those affected by the delays.
Overall I think this was a very successful news day.
